College & Pre-College Portfolio Preparation
For students applying to college or design programs, sessions focus on selecting the right work, developing weaker projects, identifying what may be missing, and presenting the portfolio clearly. We can also work on individual projects before they go into the portfolio, so the work is stronger before the final edit begins.
Portfolio Development for Internships & Employment
For college students and emerging designers, portfolio reviews can focus on internships, job applications, and professional presentation. We look at project selection, sequencing, typography, concept development, presentation, personal identity, and how to talk about the work clearly in an interview or review.
Design Tutoring & Project Review
Individual sessions can also focus on a specific graphic design, communication design, or typography project. We work through research, ideas, visual development, critique, and presentation. The goal is to improve the work and understand why a design decision is or is not working.
Teaching & Professional Experience
I have taught graphic design, typography, portfolio development, and design history at Pratt Institute, Parsons/The New School, CUNY, and other programs, working with students at different stages of their education. My professional background includes creative direction, editorial and publication design, branding, illustration, interactive design, and cultural and institutional projects. That combination allows me to work with students on both the academic side of design and the expectations of a professional portfolio.
